.22 tracer availability?

I'm really tired of civil servants "feelings" that prohibits products clearly legal in the actual Laws... Fortunately, the comming rounds of spending cuts will probably see a lot of deadwood being fired...

Looks like factory ammo that has been drilled out, maybe a chunk of magnesium and dipped in wax.
Not trying to give anyone ideas..
 
I can remember when as a Kid , my dad would often stop in at Ellwood Epps in Orillia...and on the counter by the till was a gal glass jar half full of red tipped 22 lr's. Maybe they still have some, 35 years later..lol..never know...
 
If you own tracer, you need a magazine approved for storage of class 6.3 explosives since the regular "safety cartridge" storage exemption does not apply.
 
i have seen 22 tracer being used and i am not impressed with the trace it produces. for the cost i have more fun with 308 tracer.
 
Ya when I was in Cabelas a couple weeks ago I saw some .22 lr tracers, it was a pack of 250 for $100. Too bad we can't have any of the fun stuff up here in Canada.
 
"...really tired of civil servants "feelings"..." It's what happens when civil servants are allowed to make law by regulation. Harper's bunch is doing nothing about it either. Don't think there are any plans to either.
"...probably see a lot of deadwood being fired..." Highly unlikely. The civil service unions have a 'no lay-off' clause in their contracts.
"...not impressed with the trace it produces..." A little, tiny, bullet can't hold much trace element.

Ja... see the problem is that what they consider "dead wood" That would be people that were eager to approve submitted ammo, who belive that gun owners are the people best able to decide what ammo they want, etc.

The people that NRCan sees as "value-added, go-get'ers" are people that would love to further restrict reloading and think all military surplus ammo and components are inherantly bad
