22 win mag enough hun for coyote

22 mag is a very nice round for coyotes. Minimal fur damage and I've dropped out to 120-130 yards with 40 grain pills.

I shot two coyotes with a Win 9422 magnum. Both were dead on the first shot, but I put a second round in to both for insurance. One coyote was shot at 125 yards, hit him in the lungs and down he went, came right back up and shot him in the head. The other coyote was shot in the shoulder, bullet went through to the lungs and he was dead, but I put a second round right through the ribs and it destroyed the heart, shot was about 75-80 yards. Now I use either the 222 rem mag, or the 6.5 CM.

Where I shoot coyotes, I usually need more power at 200-300, so I use a 223 Remington. The 22WMR would be fine for under 100.

It depends where you hunt. I hunt alot of wood lots and frozen ditches in the real SW Ontario. Not a lot of large wood lots
I'd like a 25/20 for coyotes. It would be about perfect for my area
