22 Mag Accuracy
I have an Anschutz 1720 22 Mag with a 23" heavy barrel. It has the 54 match action with a two stage trigger and a Leupold Vari X III 6.5-20 target scope. Every time I go to the range this gun is used to warm up. I usually use the Wal Mart Win 22 Mag at $8.50 per box, and shoot 12 or 16 groups. The groups are 4 rounds each ( what the magazine holds ).
The groups are sub MOA, with the groups ranging from 1/2" to 1" if I don't screw up. Its nice cheap long range shooting and lets me warm up for any larger calibers that I may bring. I have not tried any other ammunition other than CCI ( which shot similar to Win Classic ). I would like to try Win Supreme or Remington to see how they shoot. There is no loud muzzle blast or recoil, and even my 10 year old likes to shoot it.
I have a 9422 Winchester Lever action, so did not want another 22. With the price of a box of 22's, I like to rattle them off at 25 or 50 yards.
I never was interested in the 17HMR as I wanted something cheap to shoot and on the shelf at Wally Mart or Crappy Tire. Also I wanted something that had enough power to take out a crow at 100 to 150 yards.
