I'm having trouble finding any 22 wmr automatic handguns for sale on the dealer sites or on EE. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough. All I can find is the Keltec on Wanstalls which I'm not opposed to but I'd like something to compare against.

I've no pressure to buy immediately and I'm open to any mfg. Just posting here to see what people are using, or if this is simply not a supported caliber? I'd like something that can share the ammo of my gopher gun when at the range.

So, looking for advice on make/model/mfg and possible dealer. Again, I'm not running out to buy anything immediately. Probably this spring.

I know AMT made one. Automag I believe but I know they aint making them anymore. Maybe another one. But nothing commercially available really anymore other then the PMR30.

Other then that your looking at revolvers.

There was an AMT in 22 mag on the EE a few weeks ago, but as for current production semi's in 22 mag the Keltec is the only one I know of.

autoloading pistols are often called "automatics" just terminology.

and back to the original topic, I'd like one too. seems to me, would be a great setup. Little more poke than regular .22lr, but lighter, less recoil than 9mm. I suspect it would shoot similarly to a FN Five-Seven, but at a fraction of the cost.

my pmr30 that I bought used on the ee had issues at first . guy sold it with a bulged barrel and would FTE. this gun had the original fluted barrel and was told they were a problem. had it replaced by distributor and works fine now. has a loud bark. would be more fun if the mag could be used to hold its max capacity.

I'd love to find an Automag, I've wanted one for years. I have the PMR-30, it's a fun little gun. 22Magnum uses a relatively slow burning powder, requiring almost 16" of barrel to fully burn. Firing them out of a pistol barrel the little buggers are loud as hell and toss impressive fireballs. People stop what they are doing to come look. The Keltec I have is very accurate, feels like a toy though. The grip is a bit weird, the 30 round double stack mag is triangular in shape and the grip of the gun matches it It just feel odd in my hand, yet I still shoot it well. I got it for the novelty of a 22 magnum autoloader, it was fun but I load 45acp cheaper and 22mag is getting harder to find. The novelty has worn off, PM me if your interested in an excellent condition used one. :)

FWIW, I had a PMR 30. It was a blast (both literally and figuratively). It was very fun to shoot. When you picked it up for the first time, it was so light that it almost felt like a water gun. The fiber-optic sights were amazing, and it had a very crisp breaking trigger. It also had a muzzle blast like nothing else I have ever seen. Every time you fired, there was a fireball about the size of a cantaloupe! The gun had virtually no recoil. The only bad thing that I have to say about it is that it was a little picky on what ammo it liked. CCI Minimags worked fine, but it REALLY liked Hornady VMax.

Are there better guns? Absolutely, but IMHO, you would be hard pressed to find a more fun gun to shoot than a PMR 30.

Yes there was, but it is in my safe now, This is the 2nd one I have had, 1 st one had the short barrel/ 12.6, this is the mid length barrel and there is a longer one 6"?
I does not like cheap Rem ammo, but then , nether do I.
Trigger is so/so, I will check that out sometime. The price is up their on them, But I have to beat the guys off with sticks to keep it.
Hell of a fun gun thou.

I would like one as well, great round I think, it don't break the bank and nice and fast, I have a NAA earl in 22mag but would like a pistol as well

Chances are there will be AMT Automag for sale in couple of months.

Mint condition with two mags.

Ask me how I know. ;)

I emailed keltec last year to ask about a 17hmr barrel for the pmr30 and they said they were thinking of doing a 17hmr version but it was on the back burner. If they don't make one by the time i am ready to buy i may just get the 22 version and drill the barrel for a 17 cal sleeve.
