220 swift hand loads

Anyone making up handloads for 220 swift in a Ruger m77?! What’s your loads looking like for hunting accuracy! I’m workin with some hornady 55gr spittzers with not a lot of luck!

When I had a swift I burnt a lot of IMR 4064 and Win 760.
Rifle was a tang safety Ruger 77.

Had one years ago, crazy accurate gun. Mine liked everything but Rel 15 and light bullets over 4000 was the load.

The twist in the old rugers is slow and they prefer 50gr or lighter bullets to get real good accuracy.

Thanks for the heads up it indeed is a 14 twist and I’m running 55gr cuz I had them. Will be looking into 50s real soon!

That 55 grain Hornady FB is short enough to stabilize in your Ruger.
If you can find some H380, it usually performs well with that bullet.

H-380. was also tight in my 220sw. Second to H4895

Picked up some 50gr nosler varmint today and the guy at the gun shop has the same rifle and shoots H380 with good luck if I can’t figure out the imr 4064 I’m headed towards that H380!!

Well my load is stupid hot it’s 4407fps with aa2700…and 35?..36 grain barns bullet varmint grenades…..and it’s vey very accurate…
I have not shot it in awhile but if I remember right it was the load data from the barns manual #4
Rugar m77 24” barrel …. Those coyotes did not have a chance

Imr 4064 in all the gr flavors don’t work very well trying varget next then buying some H380 if all else fails! Thanks for the info guys!
