Sure is, but you're well into an area of diminishing returns. You add a LOT more powder for modest velocity gains. Then, of course, you could go for a 22-243 Middlestead or 22 Cheetah, and the 22-284.

Or a .224 Vais (22-6.5x55mm) ! :dancingbanana:

220 Swift is very accurate as is the 22-250. However, if you are a handloader the Swift easily out does the 250 at ballistics. If you are not a handloader, factory ballistics are only about the same for the two, but the Swift is a lot more expensive to buy. I happen to be a handloader, and I own a custom 220 Swift. A P-14 Action with a heavy contour Adams & Bennet barrel, all nestled in a Boyds pepper laminate target/varminter stock. It's a friggin' laser beam:evil: 1/2 MOA easy.

I happen to shoot a .22/284 so I can tell you that you use a lot of powder to get a bit of gain in velocity.

Chucks and gophers sit still and look at you while you take aim at them! Coyotes do not!
Chucks can be effectively shot at extreme ranges due to this fact!
Coyotes can not!
Therefore if the main game is the chucks and gophers guns like my .22/284 and the various other extreme chambers are sweeter than a pocket on a shirt. The extra weight and the whole f**kabout with custom brass don't make them the average hunting guys best choice in a coyote gun for every other Saturdays hunting.
Most shots on coyotes are going to be on coyotes that are moving or about to move;). Flat shooting bullets will definately help with margin of error but common sense must still prevail as to how far out one should shoot. With winds blowing and targets moving at various speeds over terrain covered with obstacles we need to think before we squeeze. No Super Power Chambering will make up for clear judgement.
That said it's dang hard I reckon to beat a well balanced good shooting .22/250 for the average guy. I know I voted Swift and I still think it is the better of the Chuck guns but they are usually offerd in the heavier guns that aren't all that nice to carry through snow that's knee deep like some of the .22/250 offerings are/tt

so it looks like 22-250 has a fairly good lead.

I have also been looking at reloading componant availability and factory chamberings available in both calibers and it really looks like 22-250 has an edge there as well.

I'm not interested in anythihg smaller then .22 call me a snob and a 243 is not someting I need since I have a 25-06 allready.

a 1 in 8 twist should not have a problem with the longer 70 - 80 grn bullets so now to do a bit of research on factory offerings in 22-250 :)

I have only owned 22-250s so my oppinion would be slightly favouring this cartridge, But i can say i have not heard any bad points about the 220 swift!
As for carnage on Ground Pig the 22-250 makes hamburger

 :D right hand bolt left eject  Nice touch but I can live with right eject.

Now 1 in 9 twist on a 22-250 is nice :dancingbanana: be good for the longer heavier bullets with better BC :D

Right bolt, with left eject is perfect for prone shooting, and is why they did that...
You can see your brass eject, and use your offhand to load, unload etc...

Im a lefty, and own all right Handed bolts partially for this reason...

I voted for the 22-250 Rem probably cause I own one. What does a difference of roughly 100 fps with a 60 grain bullet mean to a coyote with a hole (or two) in his ribcage? Not much to him or me.
Now if I owned a swift it might be a different story.

Thats one of those few "win/win" choices.

I like the slightly flatter trajectory of the 220 swift.

BUT

Me and a friend went camping/gopher dusting years ago. On the second day we both ran outta ammo. The local store in the middle of buttf*ck Alberta had plenty of 22-250 rounds. He didn't have any 220 swift rounds.

Definitly something to consider.

Yes I'm settled on 22-250 now and a savage of some sort.

I was on the Savage website and could not find any 22-250's with a 1 in 9 twist, they were all listed as having 1 in 12 twist. I would like to shoot the 60-70grn HPBT bullets, long little pills.

Plan may be to get a 223 with a 1 in 9 then send it out to get rechambered to 22-250 perhaps 22-250 AI :)
