221 Fireball

Anyone have this caliber, can one find rifles in 221 Fireball? Seems like a great little round.

Not sure if anyone other than Cooper (maybe CZ also) offer anything in this caliber. You might want to look at the 17 Hornet also.

Remington makes a fireball action in 17 fireball that you could rebarrel to 221 fireball. There are extraction issues when using a non-fireball action on a fireball based cartridge.

I have one in a Rem LVSF, great little round. Definately worth spending some time looking around for one, they pop up every now and again.

It would be a great little rifle cartridge and I 'believe' KDX is correct in saying the 221 Fireball is available in a CZ. I have one but mine is in a Remington XP-100. Wish I could use it, when the opportunity arises, to thin out Gopher populations in the B.C. interior or on visits to Alberta.

I have a custom 221 Fireball as does a friend. It is a great little round for gophers with the 40gr Ballistic Tip bullet.

There are no extraction issues with the short Fireball case. There may be ejection issues though. To be honest I can't even tell you if my rifle does that because if it does it isn't something that bothers me enough to notice. I don't want my brass flung into the grass anyway.
