Wholesale Sports, or even (shudder) Cabelas list them as standard items.

Ive been mulling over ordering brass..maybe even Lapua from Hirsch Precision but Im cheap and ended up reforming some 223 I had laying around. We will see how that works out.

The cheapest .222 brass that I have found was also pretty good stuff - some old Gevelot, "made in Sweden" brass sold by Higginson's. It is listed on their website under Winchester components.

I used the pickup brass from the range. all .223 and reformed. excellent results if i say so myself. any brand will do. And i like the free end of it too. and plentiful from the AR shooters.

I only noticed the doughnut on some of the RP brass i resized. The winchester and FC didnt' look so bad. a few other had some wrinkles in the neck but that should come out on firing. Imperial sizing wax worked well and the trimming was not so bad with my forster lathe.
That......coming from an ex cop. Who has the donut problem here?

Thought when I turned in the badge and the gun the problem would disappear - it didn't.
If i`m having trouble finding brass i`ll buy a few boxes of factory ammo then it`s fireformed to my chamber when i use it for sighting in a scope or whatever shooting i do. That is what i did for my 204 as the shop didn`t have any brass on hand when i bought the rifle. Sometimes it`s very informative to compare reloads to factory when cronographing.

Anyone know where the best place for brass is and possibly dies?
Will only need 100 brass for now.

i just picked up some winchester federal factory loads.after i fired them i now have around 140-160 brass for reloading.was thinking about resizing some 223 range brass,how hard is it to do?how many times do you have to run it through the die? can it be sized in one pass?
I posted a wtb for dies and brass on the ee the other day. GOT two offers for both with in an hour. Can't say enough about how great the guy was. Pm me for the other guys name who I didn't buy from.

You can form them from 223 with a little effort. It really helps to anneal the neck/shoulder first, and get the lube right - too much and you get wrinkles, with too little, you get lots of other sorts of troubles.
