What would be the best powder for 40 gr bullets in the famous 222 Rem ? I'm looking at loading some rounds but I don't want to buy a number of powders seeing poor results. I know it all has to do with the rifle but some powders must be better then others. Thanks for any info...

Im getting bug hole groups with 40 gr V-Max pushed by 21 grains of IMR4198. I haven't tried other powders as I still have half an 8 pound keg of the aforementioned to burn through...

I use a 40gr Berger with a max load of 8208 XBR in my Sako A1. Minute of gopher to 200yds and worked really well on the few coyotes I have shot with it as well.

222 rem

I have shot & loaded for the deuce for quite some time, gave up on 40gr and went to 52 & 53 gr Sierras & Bergers with better results, I Am thinking of ordering a new barrel for a 700 Rem and I will order a 1/7 twist to be able to shoot the 80g + bullets
here is my best loads
Lapua cases, neckturned
win 748 near max 53 Gr Sierra MK or 52gr Bergers
another great powder is VT 133 and H 322 is no slouch
