They all work. You can even make it out of .223 brass and still get decent accuracy. Unless you are into SERIOUS accuracy, like bench rest, you don't need to buy Lapua brass - and your rifle is an excellent gun but is not a BR gun...............

In fact, as one poster stated, the 222 Remington is inherently accurate and does well with many loads.
Powders that have worked well include H4198, H322, Benchmark, H4895, BLC-2, IMR 4198, IMR3031, IMR4895 IMR4320, IMR4064, W748, Alliant RL7, RL10X, RL12, Vihtavuori N133, 135, 140,
Ramshot TAC, Accurate 2230, 2460.....I'm sure there are others...the list is quite long.
Most 222 Rifles I have owned shot the 55 grain bullets just fine.
This is a great chambering!! Low noise levels, great accuracy, long barrel life, frugal on powder..what more could one want?

I have been using a triple 2 in a 722 Rem for quite some time now and I have worked up 3 different bullet weights that shoot quite nicely in my gun. I use a 55 grain sierra sp and H335 for a velocity of 3100+ fps, a 40 grain Nosler BT also with H335 a velocity of 3500+, and lastly a 50 grain Speer with BL(C)-2 for a velocity of around 3000 fps. O yeah almost forgot I also worked up a 46 grain Winchester OPE load with wsr primers and 12.9 grains of W296 with accuracy of .5-.75" at 100 yards with a velocity of ~2300 fps, making this an extemely versatile round. When I want to totally destroy a varmint I use 25 grains of WW 748 and one of two bullet choices: the 46 grain Calhoon double hollow point or the Winchester 46 grain hollow point made for the 22 Hornet. Have used the Hornady 50 grain SXSP and 19 grains of IMR 4198 in the past with no complaints. On coyotes the 222 is a DRT combination at up to 200 yards. Have made kills at slightly beyond 300, but this needed a tad bit of holdover and some time to find thier freshly dead carcasses.

The deuce is still one of my favorite guns to shoot. I tryed some VT 133 in
Lapua brass, CCI Benchrest primers, 53 gr MK and 52gr Berger Match.
I always shot 748 which was excellent, but you had pressure spikes in hot weather, but the VT133 is a tad better for accuracy and seems okay so far on warm days.
If nut behind bolt does not get loose, the deuce will shoot sub .225" groups at 100

I managed to snag a savage Model 112,Series J bench rifle back in 1990.
I paid $300.00 for it.
That rifle has a heavy long action, blind magazine well (no cut out), 26" heavy bull barrel. Strange combo, but accurate! I have put at least 2-3000 rounds through it. And it will still shoot in the .2's on a good day!
This rifle shoots many different combos well, but its favorite so far is:
21.5gr H322
52 grain Sierra HPBT Match bullets seated to touch the rifling.
3125fps Average. S.D. Normally is under 10fps.
I put a tactical scope on this rifle and had it grouping out to 600 once. I may have to try stretching that out further! Lol! Fun stuff!
