Does Tikka make the T3 Varmint Synthetic model in .222 Rem? I have searched and found the .222 Varmint wood stocked model but can not find anything on the synthetic model. Thank you.

I don't think I would even consider a Tikka in 222 on that long action. I have a couple old school 222 from the 70's/80's built in long actions, a Win M70 and a BSA CF2. I like them as they are kind of "novelty" items, they broke ground with the one action length and one barrel profile, one stock, to cut costs, making 222Rem up to 300WinMag on the same rifle.
So many better fits for the 222, CZ527's, Sako Vixens, BRNO FOX, Rem 7, even the Howa Mini is a nicer fit for that little cartridge.

This is wise advise.

Maybe, but I have a T3 lite that regularly prints 5 shots under .5moa with more than 1 bullet. Even a couple of 10 rounders in that range. I do believe however that they don’t import the .222 into Canada anymore.

This is the thing, any Tikka I have ever owned are all accurate out of the box. With some load development 5 shot 1/4" groups are not uncommon with the .204 and .223 Varmint models I like the trigger, gun fits me perfectly and functions flawlessly. Action is smooth and I personally do not see the problem with the "length".

Some of those 222s are hard to find and expensive when you do. I have an old 700 Varmint in 222 topped with a 12x Leupold. I like it but would not hesitate to buy a Tikka in 222 as they are all good shooters.

OP ... I'd be looking for either the walnut or synthetic. It might up your chances in finding one. Even the sporter T3s in 222 are few and far between.

I haven't owned a 222Rem that doesn't shoot like that...it's an accurate cartridge. Those old Win70's and BSA's shoot like that...$500 used guns in near new condition, and you can't get a better trigger to tune up then the old open trigger M70's.
Recently picked up a BRNO 601 in 222, surprisingly or not, shoots like that as well, little more then $500 but not much, set trigger, nice walnut, all 3 are way better built then a Tikka.
I'd like one in a CZ 527, but I got one of those in 223 already so kind of OK there.

The walnut stock Tikka Varmints are not in stock anywhere that I can see. I also would like a copy in 222.

While not ideal in the long action, they will shoot and the other options mentioned are worth the same if not more than a new copy. I don’t mind paying money for stuff but I might as well get new if I am paying new price or sometimes more.

I’ve owned both. A stainless and walnut T3 and a synthetic stock Varmint. The T3 was beautiful and accurate, but was traded for the Varmint. The Varmint was lights out accurate. Had my fun with it in a couple shooting competitions and it moved on as well. I’ve never heard of it offered in a walnut stock.

I remember seeing the tikka super varmint rifles in 222 rem for sale about 25 years ago and they were selling for around $650 CDN, NIB. Contact Stoeger Canada and see if they are still available or buy a varmint model in 223 and have a new 222 rem barrel spun onto it.

Had a 788 .223 Rem that I won a lot of trophies with in inter-departmental shoots. The thing was stupid consistent with small 5 shot groups. Only reason I sold it was I was at a gun show and there was a new in the box Sako A1 Varmint .222 at a very attractive price and my shooting buddy was standing beside me and always wanted the 788, the rest is history. 788s were always underrated and were a great value and always performed.

I have an older Sako Varmint in 222 Remington, one of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned. It really likes the Hornady 50 gr Vmax ammo, so much so that I have not really worked too hard to get a handload for it.

I have seen a few Tikka rifles in 222 Rem from time to time, but they are not common. Good luck on your search!

I have no idea what is currently available, but I do have a T3 stainless/synthetic with the heavy barrel. It is a very accurate rig. And sorry, but it is not for sale.

As for 788s, I never had one that didn't shoot well. Good accurate rifles.
