As outlined in another post, I have a chance to purchase an early Remington BDL in this now pretty much obsolete caliber. Do any fellow Gunnutz have experience with this caliber and does anyone know where I could purchase at least 100 new brass casings? This is not the regular and readily available .222 Remington, but its Big Brother, the .222 Rem. Mag. Either a Canadian or US source would probably work for me.

Ellwood Epps apparently carries the brass, so I expect there are probably others in Canada.

Can't be fire formed from a 204! Great cartridge little faster than the 223 rem I hzvf one in a old sako bought it in the early 80's many a varmit has fallen to it. . You will have to shop around but there is brass to be had .

Can it be fireformed from .204 ?

You do not need to fireform 204 Ruger. to make 222 Magnum cases.

Simply run a new or annealed 204 case through a 222 Remington Magnum FL die and, voila!! a perfect 222 Magnum case.

Check length, trim if necessary [1.840" trim length] load and fire away.

Since the 204 case is slightly longer to the shoulder than is the 222 Mag case, the FL die will move the shoulder back, so headspace will be no issue. [Remember...NO lube on that shoulder while sizing!!]

Regards, Dave.
