I plan on picking up some powder to develop a few varmints loads for my .222rem, using 40gr to 52gr bullets.

Of course I am seeking accuracy but at the same time I'd like to get as much speed as possible...

Will the H4198 give me much more velocity?

Will the H322 be superior for accuracy?
 
I have a 722 Remington .222 that I find really shoots 25.3gr BLC2 and either a 50gr Hornady SX or 50gr Sierra Blitz into tiny ragged holes. That is the Blitz not the BlitzKing. I tried H322 and 4198 but they didn't work as well. I would imagine it would depend on the rifle. I would not overlook BLC2.

Sierra Blitz are very explosive. My favorite feed for my sako 222 varmint and made for 222/223 type velocities. Sierra does not recommend pushing them past 3300fps or so. They used to have a card placed in the box with this warning.
 
According to my book...these two powders differ only about 70 fps.with 50 gr bullets. I use IMR 3031 and 23 grains pushing 50 grain Sierras puts a small hole at 100 yards. Hits heavy at 200 but that is the limit at our range. I love the caliber over my Savage 12fvss in .223.
 
I don't know much about the BlitzKing other than they are more expensive than the Blitz and with the results I get with the Blitz why spend more money? Don't overlook the Hornady SX either, same deal as the Blitz only cheaper still at least they were when I bought mine.

This is why I myslf go one step further & I use bulk Winchester brand 46 grain hollowpoint designed for the .22 Hornet and use it in the
.222 Remington case.
Absolute destruction of small critters, accurate & unlike some varmint bullets, relatively cheap & readily available.
 
Sako Vixen L461 .222rem, pretty sure it is 1/14 twist

looking for a higher BC and a little more velocity, I am shooting Prvi 50gr factory that is said to have a BC of .19

This Prvi is extremely accurate in my gun but it gets pushed around by the wind like nothing I have ever seen before and I do believe that the bullets have a hard time opening up out past 150yards...
 
i'm runnning the "classic" .222 load of 20.5 grs of H4198 with the 50 gr sierra blitz, out of a 40 year old 700 ADL, will still put 5 under an inch,hoping to do better with some load devlopment, and i have a bunch of H322 loaded up waiting for a nice day.
 
The very efficient 222 is already near full throttle in speed along with many well designed bullet profiles IMHO. I believe knowing beforehand, how much your chosen bullets stray in various wind speeds may be more fruitful at normal hunting distances. A laser rangefinder & something to measure wind speed would be very handy to resolve this problem.
 
Yes your twist is 1 in 14. I wouldn't worry too much about ballistic coefficient in that small window (50 to 55) Just find a bullet/powder combination that works at 0 to 300 yds and have some fun, after all you are not shooting at really long range.

No, I believe the "Blitzkings" are boattail bullets with a green plastic tip. They, in my area, are about three bucks a box more than the Blitz. Not a big issue for some but when firing 500 plus rounds/day it is for me. Blitzking also shoot a tad flatter as well.
