Recipes please (preferably RL 15 or Varget as its what I use for .308) for accuracy. The B/Cs on similar weight bullets seem far closer than with .308 (same weight far more variation in B/C). Cheers.

Can't help you with Varget, etc. as I load the stuff that meters like poop through a goose - BALL POWDER. I have found that in my mini 14 with a 1 in 9", 25 grains of W748 and a 69 grain Nosler Competition or Sierra is absolutely deadly. I have hit varmints out to 300 yards with absolutely no problem. I have also used this load with Hornady 68 grain BTHP match and have even better accuracy, but for some reason the velocity was a tad slower. I have also tried Hornady 75 grainers with 24.8 grains of the W748 and found that they shot very well too, but I wanted the added velocity of the 69 grain bullet. I saw no difference on game and felt the 69 grainers were more accurate on paper out of my rifle too.

24-26 grains of varget my sweet load is 24,7 gr and .5-.75 inch groups whithout touching the harmonic balancer do thoes things even work

saskcop, thanks for the recipe, no issues with 75gr and the mag?

grizzly, what weight bullets are you pushing with that load?

I just picked up a box of the nosler ballistic tips in 55, will let you know how those work. Thanks.

No issues with the 75 grainers whatsoever. I seat them to mag length and crimp with a factory crimp die - but not too much. They seem to hit hard and are plenty accurate. I am going to try some 77 grain Noslers or Sierras. I see that Sierra is make them with a cannelure now.

1/9 twist on paper seems to favour the heavier rounds, so Im not complaining when I got .30 @ 100 with hornady 40 grainers in my 700P :)

mini 14 target

Funny you said this. I was like you and ready to send this rifle back. As a matter of fact grizz, yes these things work. Just bought the mini -14target model NIB. Shot winchester 45 grain bullets and was all over the map. About 160 rounds later (after I thought it was the scope mounts and tried fiddling with the win & elev of the scope, i figured I would try moving the counter balance. I went from shooting 5" groups to sub MOA using factory loaded ammo! Screw me silly, but I thought they were a useless piece of steel, until that happened. I bottomed out the counter balance first and after I was done I ended up with about a 1" extension on my barrel by the end of it......WTF!
