Hey all!
At work today I had one of those silly ideas... My own wildcat
As some of you already know I am in the market for a military style, unrestricted rifle for use in the bush, however the hunting regulations in my area requires a centerfire, 6mm or larger bore. Now, there are lots and lots of very interesting rifles out there, XCR, M96, Sig Special, Tavor, Etc... But all of them are .223. So I thought : would it make sense ( and physically possible ) to take one of these rifles, have someone make a barrel for it with a 6mm bore, and enlarge the .223 neck to take .243 bullets, while using comparable pressure levels overall round lenght and such ? Now I know it would be costly, and that the final result will not produce 5000 lbs/ft( just kidding with that number ) but could it be done without changing all of the internals of said rifle ???
P.S. No it isn't money wise, but it might be a lot of fun
