So I'm working up loads for a 300m competition, close to the ocean so winds are expected. So far 69g smk were good for a 500m shoot, however just yesterday hit a sweetspot with 80g nosler comps. Now the barrel is a 1-9 twist, 25g of r15 is pushing these suckers out at 2850 which is fast and pretty high pressure from what I hear. Problem is they pattern cloverleaf at 100. Now there is no range within a 3 hour drive that offers 300 m distance and the bush around here doesn't give more then 200. Any thoughts or experience if these will destabilize by 300 yards? Should we just abandon those and go back to the 69-75 weights to keep the spin correct at 300, or just pound a bunch of 80s out and hope for the best after the drive? Primers showing minimul pressure signs, bolts not sticky but sure showing burn on the cartridge mouth. Thoughts?

I shoot 77gr bergers form my 1:9 they shoot great at 100 and from what I remember darn good at 200 as well. Thats as far as our range goes so cant say for longer range. Was using 24gr varget with them. Was mid 2700 fps

I did more or less the same out to 400 with 69 smk, Hornady 75 BTHP and Hornady 75 Amax all ahead of varget.

I settled on the 69 smk for 10-12 mph wind and 250-320yds and 75 BTHP for 15+ wind from 350-420yds. 1-9 FCP-K .223

Awesome now say you can't get your hands dirty in varget cause you didn't for see the US black hole sucking it all up... would h380, r15 or h4895 be a next best option? Its getting tough to get the 69smk as well it seems!
