recently had my Tikka M55 rebarreled with a 28" 1-12 Pac-Nor Super Match to 223 AI, and am looking for some insight on loads, both fireforming and full house AI. wanting to run mostly 40-50 grain bullets, and mostly hodgdon powders, as that is what is most commonly available around here, although discovered it doesn't like any of the varget loads i've tried so far, which is funny because the original factory barrel didn't shoot it either.

For fire forming I would just load max book loads for whatever bullet/powder combo you are using (regular .223) as you will be adding more later with the AI loads. It's what I intend to do with my .257 Roberts AI when the barrel comes in and I get it assembled.

If your chamber is cut correctly you should be able to fire form with regular 223 ammo. Easiest way to do it, and one of the bigger advantages of the Ackley design over the various other improved designs. - dan
