.223 Ammunition? How much to reload??

7000 grains in a pound. 7 lbs of WC845. 24.5gr loads. = 2000 rounds = $100 or 20 cents per round.

Bulk 55gr FMJ for $8 per hundred, or 8 cents per round.

WSR primers $24 per thousand, or 2.4 cents per primer.

Brass, reuseable, say 10x, so $30 for a thou is really only $3. Thats 0.3 cents in the end. How much is used brass these days???

Tax varies and so does shipping. I get free shipping with big orders but I pay 15% tax. Per thousand thats $23 or another 2.3 cents.

33 cents per round. $33 for 100 rounds, reloaded.

ITS CHEAPER TO BUY.

Looks like I stand corrected, I was told and always under the impression that Progressives could not produce consistant and accurate powder loads, fluctuations of up to half a grain in powder. If this info is wrong guess I need to be looking at a dillan and maybe save a bunch of time and money.

With ball powder like H-335, it flows like water. Extruded powders like Varget are not suitable for use on a progressive press for exactly the reason you mention. If I had to have a load with extruded powder, I'd still process and prime the cases on my 1050, then load the powder and seat on a single stage.

Crazy_train04 the cost difference is so marginal, just do it...

I started reloading .223 for my old M55 Tikka four weeks ago with equipment given to me for free by my CGN buddy Hicaliber.
So now I get to pick and choose all the options, shoot a whole lot more and "tune" a load for my individual rifle.
Its not hard- this is coming from a newbie reloader, my groups are now an honest .6 MOA with minimal effort so just go do it!

You right that varget is a little more difficult, but that is what I use with my 75bthp with no problem.

One nice thing about reloading is reduced charges where noise is a problem, e.g. livestock in your gopher patch. Oooh maybe there's a market out there.
