Ok finely got some trailboss.

Have lots of brass and primers.

I have 155/175 gr bullets for the 308 and 55/62 for the 223 all jacketed

Any start points?

308 scout 16" barrel I hear 10 grs is a good start for the 175

And mk12 and Mk 18 as 223/556

To grease the bullets or not?

Standing by for info

Common advice for TB is to start with 70% of case capacity (excluding volume, occupied by seated bullet) by weight.
10 gr for 308 is about right.
Greasing is optional, unless you plan to go wa-a-a-y below 1000 fps. Try to minimize runout when seating bullets, especially if you load them upside down (boat-tail towards the barrel).
You may find it to be more satisfying using heavy cast pills.

Have fun! :)

I stuck unlubed jacketed bullets in a 24" bbl at 1000 fps.

If you don't want to lube bullets then you will need to run an oily patch down the bbl every few rounds and you need to make sure the bullet exited for EVERY shot. That means, hearing it impact downrange or physically checking bore each time.

Trailboss in an 18" bbl may be ok but you really don't want to stick two bullets in a bbl cause they will be hell on earth to get out.

Subsonic 223 is not worth the effort. The large bearing surface to weight ratio makes them much more likely to stick in the bore and subsonic 223 is just glorified 22 rimfire.

I did some load development. I found it useful to use oversize bullets (did not size them). This boosted initial pressure.

I suggest you start high and work down watching the SD or ES of the loads. When it starts to deteriorate, don't go any lower. At that point you might try switching to magnum primer.

I have 2 loads for my 308.
150gr berry's bullet with 12gr of trailboss that's for the kids to play with "the big gun"
180gr lead bullet (Lyman 311041) with 8gr of trailboss for small game.

10 grs and the 155 amax was good. Going to try the 175 smk next.

Still want to try some 556 just for a laugh
