.223 bolt gun?

my dads Vanguard 223, he upgraded the stock, fit and finish is better than the ruger but no detachable magazine.

for what your talking about maybe have a look at the Ruger American Ranch Rifle.
its a shorter barrel 223/5.56 and might fit your bill.

me personally i agree with Redrammer99, when i got for walks out in the woods i take my mini14 with me.
something to said for a semi auto.

Remington 700 SPS TAC, you can get the .223 with a 16.5" threaded barrel, I have one in a MDT LSS chassis and it's a great little gun.
