Looking at getting a .223 bolt action. Right now my sights are set on the howa 1500 miniaction. Been looking around for 10 round mags for them but having a hard time finding them? Are they rare?

Also open to suggestions on other .223 bolt actions.
Thanks

Take a look at the ruger American ranch.
There 2 models, one with proprietary mag and the other which accept ar15 mag.
With the LAR mag you have 10 rounds capacity.

I have handled a Weatherby Vanguard which is a re branded Howa. The triggers are excellent like breaking glass. Looks to have an AI magazine. So no doubt it would work well since even legacy makes the same conersion. I checked out the specs they are very heavy rifles, so should be handy on the bench. I am in the same boat as you looking for a 223. I ordered a Savage 110 scout with a few MDT mags since I wanted iron sights, I can’t comment until when it comes in. The CZ is very nice too but does not have 10 rounders which I need for 3 gun. Hope I made the right choice!

I had my eyes on a Tikka but extra mags are $200 a piece.

You need a bolty to go along with your shotty, and your winnie.

Next thread will be what pills or bullet tips you should use.

Proof of age or pal really should be provided before being allowed to post .

At what age would you have us stop posting, then?

People will at times use nonsensical nicknames for objects to convey a sense of familiarity for items.

We see it commonly with people new to hunting/shooting that have little or no experience with aspects of the lifestyle. I have no issues with new people using these terms - they will usually learn quickly - but it grinds my gears when I hear/see experienced folk using these silly terms.

Note to OP: Rifle "strap"; Bullet "heads"; "Whinny" - sounds like a damn horse!; Muzzle "breaks"; "Shotty", "Boomstick"; are commonly used terms that bug a lot of people. Laugh2

Using the term "clip" where "magazine" should be used could eat up hours of debate.

My personal favorite is "leupy".

I just bought 7 Mossberg 223 bolt action rifles. They take the AR-15 magazine.

This rifle is made in at least 3 different models. I want these for a newbie shooting program, so the adjustable stock feature is very useful.

Trigger is excellent. Mag goes in and out smoothly.

I’ve never heard “bolty” before and laughed out loud because I figured this guy must be Australian. I’ve known hundreds of Aussies and if they can abbreviate and or add “y” to a word they will do so gleefully.

Hell, they call McDonalds “Maccers” but pronounce it “Makkahs”

Anyway, those howa minis look slick. If you don’t care about seating depth then the AR mag compatible boltys are a good way to go :)

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry you will figure out the politically correct language rules soon enough. It really is a welcoming forum. Too bad the CZ527 doesn't have the needed mag. I sure like mine. Just one thing, decide on a twist rate. Many shooters prefer faster twist rate as it handles heavier bullets. 1 in 12 twist is the original but many prefer 1 in 9 to handle 70 gr tips, whoops bullets. Personally I'm fine with the 12" twist.
