I have been planning this for a long while & finally things are happening so here's what I've got rolling;

- XLR element chassis with folding tact lite butt stock
- Remington 700 short action
- Remington trigger adjusted to 2.5 pds
- benchmark 5r barrel 20" 1:8 twist
- badger rail & large bolt handle & rings.
- aICS magazines x 4
- leupold mark 4 16x scope

Action, rail, mags, trigger are all here. The rest has finally been ordered. What do you think?

You will love shooting .223.

I went back to .223 from .308 as I found I just rarely shot past 600 yards anyways. Shooting the cheaper .223 is something my whole family enjoys as .308 was just too much for novice shooters. Once you start punching paper a hole is a hole, and a bunch more ft lbs make no difference on paper or clays I found especially at 600 yards.

Make sure your 700 has the recall done that was a concern when I decided on my .223 bolt action budget build.

Your build parts are top notch, enjoy.

I plan to use this for both plinking & hunting. My friend here has the lathe, tools to cut, thread, etc for the build. I took this pic from XLR's site as it's pretty much how my build will look like when complete.

WTF is with having to fill out a ton of paperwork & the long wait for a bloody stock? It's not a receiver or bolt or barrel???!!! Stupid laws in this country for importing things. Does anyone in Canada stocks these stocks in house???

Skip the XLR and go with the MDT HS3 made in Canada.... h ttp://mdttac.ca/hs3-chassis-system.html

or a Cadex.... h ttp://www.cadexdefence.com/products/chassis/field-strike/

I ordered mine direct from Kyle years ago. No paperwork required.

When I built mine, I went 7 twist and Ackley chamber for the extra jam and brass life.

According to XLR when ordering direct there is importation paperwork and it seems like it'll take a month or more after its filled out. Nobody stocks these in Canada???

Good luck with the build, should be nice once its done! Im not into the whole tacticool 223 thing, but I can appreciate the effort, the appreciation, and the pride!

Easier way would have been to ship it to a US address and then bring it across in person. No real restrictions, as its just a stock.
