I picked up a box of bullets from a gun show a few years back. They are #2220 22 Cal 45 grain .223 Hornet bullets. I was going to load them tonight into my 223 Remington till I realized they were only .223 dia. The 223 Remington normally uses .224 dia bullet. I know I could still load them but i doubt they would be the most accurate.

I check and even the 22 Hornet uses a .224 dia bullet. Why would Hornady make them this size?

Thanks.

Older Hornets used .223 barrels, as do some of the current crop from Europe, where there seems to be no problem shooting .224 bullets out of a .223 bore.

Load 5 or 10 rounds and see for yourself how the ones you have work. May shoot very well, may not. But you will then have facts to work with rather than beliefs, eh.

Cheers
