This was the kind of "corrective" criticism I was looking for. I was under the impression that barrel length effected accuracy as much as it did velocity, hence the reason precision rifles are as long as they are. But I suppose that is to just increase velocity too mitigate wind deflection. That having been said, is it safe to say that you can create a DMR from a 14" platform?

Alrighty
As a new poster to these threads, I would like to mention I have been viewing and reading for a while now and I have tried the search function on the forums, but I sure many know that it lacks ever so slightly, OR I perhaps didn't use it properly.
Regardless I pose this question:
On a rifle length barrel ( 18" - 22" ) what are effective or more to the point what ranges can you stay accurate at ( lets say 2 or 3 moa ) ?
Now I'm talking about a AR style rifle, bolt actions need not apply.
"Corrective" criticism is welcomed
Thank you CGNer's
Wow, what's that SL8 load?
SIGH.....
we need longer ranges in BC.
Was looking at a youtube vid on a sniper match in the CO hills. unknown distance targets at 600 or maybe 800yds. some close, lots far. Different stages, terrain, you name it, these guys had to shoot it.
Great gear, great skills and a place to really see what a gas gun will do. Fun...

We have a 1200yd range in Deland FL, its take a lot of efforts from the club members to get it to where it is. We used to have to limit shooting to 800 and do to the way the range was laid out we s**t down the rest of it to shoot that.
Furthest we went out was to 1000yds yesterday - but its always enjoyable. (I'm shooting my 16" SR-25)
To fully appreciate your gas gun you need to stretch their legs now and then![]()
You said it! It'd be nice if we had a more accepted shooting culture here, and opening up a range like that would be nice. That being said, the only place I know that I can shoot my AR at 500 is Connaught. But it'd Venice to have a more accessible public range where you shoot 500-800m
