223 FMJ heaviest bullet for 1:7 twist barrel?

I find this difficult to believe. The hydraulic pressure from the supersonic shockwave alone should tear a gopher to bits.
For 223 on yotes, I'd look at a 45gr VMax or something similar. You want fast, lightly constructed and a polycarbonate tip to initiate expansion.

I'm a big fan of the VMax and Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. I've shot a lot of varmints with those two and the terminal performance is never less than impressive.

FMJ can and will pencil through a gopher (or a coyote). Hornady doesn't make a 45g VMAX, their 45g offerings are for 22 Hornet or 218 Bee velocities which would probably blow up just out of the muzzle at the velocities Otokiak will be generating with his new toy.
