Personally, it's not my first choice, but it is legal here in BC. I agree with your choice on the TSX and as long as you put it where it needs to go you should be fine.

This year, I'll be using either my (new to me) .243win with 100gr Sierras or my .358win with 200gr cast bullets.

Also, photos and a story of the successful hunt is expected to be posted here.;):D

Good luck!

I have 55gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claws loaded up in my 223 & 22-250 just in case a deer pops out when I am predator hunting but I do not go out with those rifles specifically for deer anymore I have far to many other rifles that can do the job better so I take them.

I will be this fall... The 44 mag will spend the season in the safe, as it's not as weatherproof as the .223. I have some nice Federal 62 gr bonded sp that should do the job quite nicely. I agree that shot placement is everything though... Where we hunt, maximum distance we encounter is 100 meters, so I'm not concerned with "non-hits", or lack of terminal ballistics...

Give'er I say ... we shoot tuktu(caribou) with .223 and a tuktu is bigger than most deer. Shot placement is key ... ;)

Most blacktails are pretty small. If there was a 'good' deer to use 223 on, that would be it. (well - that or sitka).

It's probably a little light, but doable. Just make sure you take only good clear shots.
