.223 for deer?

i confess, i've killed deer with the 22-250. i'd use the 223 for meat deer after elk season is over. i wouldn't take it out intentionally looking for a big muley buck.

in fact, i think i have the trifecta, deer with a 22 centerfire, buckshot, and 7.62x39.
 
Why would you want to use a maginal caliber you said you are new to hunting a 223 cost the same as many larger more suitable calibers ie 3006 taking up hunting your first responsobilty is to the animal and showing it responsable harvest and management of your hunting skills get somthing in the 243 to 30 cal and you will not be trcking a wounded animal just my 2c
