I’m going to have to get some of those 62 BTSP Gamekings to try out. The Partitions would be interesting as well. Not quite the same as using the 77gr TMK or ELD’s but the Partitions Would definitely expand violently while still penetrating. This is a great little bullet.
The 60gr Nosler Partition is a touch more violent, but the Gameking seems to fly a little better and gets the job done with controlled expansion and surprisingly good penetration.
It's been a very popular bullet for a long time![]()
I'd say you're limited by the velocity.Getting my first ever 223 soon(should be in the mail tomorrow), bought a bunch of stuff today at the lgs, Speer varmint 70gn bullets we’re part of the stuff, says on the box good for 1:10 or faster twist, my rifle is 1:9 twist. Now it is not legal up here for big game so it will be mainly use for range practice at a more affordable rate than my other rifles all using at least 50+grain of powder and more expensive bullets and primers.
Anyway what I wanted to know is what distance would a 223 be reliably efficient on wolf assuming I can place bullets reliably inside of its chest cavity up to 500m let say. What would be the max distance to kill efficiently and what bullets would be your choice( taking in consideration that I want the least damage to the pelt)?
The difference is that that little thing is very marginal and the .223 with the right projectile is not even close to marginal.THE shotgun for wing shooting when you use a .223 for everything with fur....

If you shot a single lead ball out of that shotgun I doubt there would be too many volunteers to be the target.
