Picked up one of these for not a bad price. Works out to 44 cents per round. The Mini-14 is great fun for off hand plinking and this ammo is an inexpensive source of reloading brass. Got a brass catcher. Avoids having to chase ejected brass. :)

Slamfire - good on ya - keep going. I hate the econo ammo threads where guys aren't honest. Good shooting.

Sweet! I have zero riffles in 556 at the moment. Waiting on my W-180..... I did pick up some ammo though.

Which store did you get it at?

From a retailer that has since gone belly-up. I see that Cabela's currently has these for $170 + tax = 60 cents per round. Winchester .223 brass from them is 50 cents + tax each.

Tried the freedom bucket ammo in my mini-14 but the American eagle stuff worked much better. Cabela's had a good sale on it last December. Along with a rebate deal from federal, it came out to be about 10 cents a round cheaper than the freedom bucket stuff and better quality brass to boot. I reccommend a barrell stabilizer and a trigger job if you want to get the most from your mini-14 accuracy wise. Have fun plinking!

On my 3rd bucket I bought from Cabela's for $119 each. Accuracy isn't the greatest, 2-3 MOA @ 100m out of my 20" barrel. Goes bang every time so far for me! For comparison sake, federal fusion 62gr shot sub-MOA on the same rest/rifle that day. I'll post targets later if I can find them.

Some data for anyone that cares to know:

Advertised muzzle velocity is 3240fps, out of a 20" barrel I chrono'd the following at the muzzle:

1: 2936
2: 2954
3: 2994
4: 2985
5: 2953

The consistency is more than acceptable for the price compared to off-brand ammo or steel case stuff. I will stick to this for plinking ammo.
