.223 norinco in spam cans

Do any of you know who is still stocking the norinco .223 1600 crates in the two spam cans? the yellow boxed ammo i bought has far too much corrosion i like the sealed cans much better.

I got a crate from p and d with two spam cans about two weeks ago, they had a 2/3 pallet on the show room floor.

When I was in P&D on Wednesday there was I believe 7 cases left out on the floor. Not sure if they have more in the back or not, but I thought of picking some up myself even though I don't own a .223.

It was right inside the door to the right as you walk in. The wood crates were marked .223. Didn't see any 7.62x39.

Just curious leviathan, is your concern with the aesthetics or function of the ammunition?

AFAIK, none of the yellow box stuff is "corroded," though it is tarnished a bit. I suspect the brass was just not polished when it was manufactured to cut down on cost.

Realistically, unless the ammo was soaked in ammonia, the tarnished appearance is just that - cosmetic. There should be zero functional impact on the brass in your gun, any more than a tarnished copper pipe should be no less functional to be used for plumbing.

I have 2 crates of the yellow boxes and 1 of the sealed cans. the yellow boxes i got have lots of corrosion that i scrape away with another cartridge while the sealed cans are perfect. a few cases have enough corrosion that i can see it causing a hangup

I still have not opened my crate of the yellow boxed stuff as I am shooting my spam cans still. Guess I will have to check.

I recently opened my. 223 in the yellow boxes and right away it smelled like mildew. Reminded me of the tropics


Out of the ten boxes I grabbed only a little bit of corrosion. So I'm not too worried

A month ago, Reliable has norinco 5.56 16000 rounds / crate or half create of 800 rounds.

You can check with them.

a few hours before you go to the range, empty a few boxes into a tumbler and let them vibe for a bit, they should come out nice and clean and purdy for you.
