Recently got a Hornady LNL AP - it's pretty solid, so I thought "hmmm... how about saving some time on the rifle reloads".

Tossed in the Redding dies, set everything up and got this target.

.335" at 100 yards out of an AR upper. Granted a good one, but still a semi, and off of sandbags in the rain, not even a proper benchrest.

This is an older pic of the gun that did it:

I didn't know whether this was a Reloading story or a Black Rifles story, well it's a little of both. Either way, I'm amazed that a progressive could spit out ammo that would do this in a Black Rifle.

I do all of my service rifle match ammo on my Dillion 550 since it meters Varget so well, far better than the RCBS powder measure in fact.
OAL and crimping are is consistant as well.

i just finished doing 400 rounds on a WAIT FOR IT - LEE 1000 - only lost a couple of primers over the sesson, using new winchester cases, 748 powder, and 64 grain winny pills- but this thing was set up from factory

That settles it. My semi will get the progressive, I'll save the single stage for my bolt (.308, capable of .200 on a good day).

Thanks for the feedback - didn't know progressives were used by others in similar circumstances.

I load all my .223 on a Lee 1000 as well, not going for accuracy at this point, but I'm sure that some good results can be achived - and in quantity!

needs pics and hopefully video of that Hornady press, I've always wanted to see one in action.

For the moment, I don't have a case feeder, which I view as essential to a full eval. In a few weeks or months I'll get one, and add Hornady to my (in)famous Dillon vs. Lee writeup.

For the moment, these thoughts: ultra-smooth (on the ram downstroke, once the case is out of the sizer, you can release the handle and the unit will continue right to the bottom of the stroke, indexing and all). Rigid. Really liking the LNL stuff. Rotary throw is accurate and leaks basically not at all with even the finest ball powder. Great feel on the priming.

I just measured the runout on a dozen loaded rounds: averaged .0016", which is good by any standard.

I finally broke down and changed mine over from 9mm to .45. If anything it runs even smoother in .45 acp and other then setting the dies in the bushings ( a one time thing) the change over was less than 10 minutes. If I had a second powder thimble, it would have been less than 5. Go red or go to work!:dancingbanana:

Here you go. This is without dies to show the operation of the collator/feeder. I'll add a segment spitting out live ammo later, with closeups of the primer and other systems. And then, a segment with the bullet feeder (from KISS manufacturing).
