Been liking the small calibers now.

Except for rifle and ammo availability..... Other than overall performance, it has nothing on the 223...... But it all depends what op wants to use the cartridge for.....

Unless you have a fast twist barrel, most 250's DO NOT ACCELL AT EVERYTHING. They are handicapped with needing lighter bullets with low ballistic coefficients. 95% of every 250 on earth has a 1:14" or 1:12" twist, limiting it to 60gr or smaller bullets.

223, components are cheaper, it's milder and IMO, once you get past something like the 224 Valkyrie or 22ppc, just go 6mm.

In that case, 223 in a heartbeat. Brass is free at any rifle range . I find the 50gr Speer #1029 are very accurate and low priced ($23/100). I have some of Canada Ammo's D4198 powder that I use in those loads. Same as IMR 4198.

223 would be my choice for plinking and throwing money at - as for varmints nothing (to me) beats my 204 Ruger

223 for me. I sold my 222 for the same reason.

I love the .223, it's a great cartridge. If I wanted more horsepower from a .22 caliber I would skip right past the 22-250 and use a 22 Creed.
