.223 powder suggestions.

I've been reading a lot about powder and loads people are using for .223 Remington but i can't really decide which way to go for my particular use. I'm going to be running it in a Norinco m4.

I'm looking for something that is on the cheap end and doesn't require a lot of powder compared to others or the cost makes up for it. Long range accuracy isn't important, most my shooting will be done at 25yards or less. Also i would like something that burns relatively clean. Taking into consideration the above criteria if someone could recommend something it would be appreciated.

Get Sierra reloading manual and use recommended accuracy load.
These loads are AR specific!
Don't use bolt action loads since you might get too high gas port pressure.

H335 is a good place to start. It's the right burn rate, and flows well through most powder measures.

+2 for WC735
I've had very good results with it, meters very well, burns quite clean & it's the cheapest powder around I believe.
I've been using 24 grn under a 50 grn Vmax and getting 1"groups at 100 yards. That's on the lower end of the charges so if you needed to up it slightly for a semi-auto to cycle you could probably do that. Jerry at Mystic Precision has posted he has had good success with the armscor 62 grn bullets in his semis so that might help you get the costs down too! :cheers:
 
I run 55gr Lake City FMJ's with BL-C(2), and it works very well. Powder is cheaper than Varget by a couple of bucks and it meters very well.

i like H335. It flows well, so I just throw the charge, it burns clean enough, and at about $21/lb it's cheap. It's also readily available. I also use it for my plinking rounds for my m14, and it seems to like it. (I use it for my iron sighted m14, and varget for the one with optics).
 
I also recommend WC 735; it's cheap and meters like water. With Sierra 40 Grain HPs, it is good for approximately 5/8 MOA groups out of my CZ 527 .223.

By the way, these loads are assembled with a Dillon RL 550B. Don't believe anybody who says you can't reload accurate ammo with a progressive press.
 
H335 is my first choice but I had good luck with Higginson WC845. (H335 equivalent)
I use 25 grain of H335 on a 52 Gr SMK and 24 grains of WC845 for the same velocity and accuracy.
