.223 powder?

"...compressed load..." Nothing to worry about.
The indoor range allow FMJ's?

yup our range allows anything up to 50AE (can handle 50BMG) but not allowed due to noise or some thing like that.
i wanted to stay away from the compressed load thing because i heard that if some cases are smaller than others it can cause higher pressure and things can go bad in a hurry.
i have reloaded pistol rounds (about 1k) with no problems yet (knock on wood) but just wanted some nice simple .223 rounds for plinking with.

thanks all for the help
think i might give win 748 a try, if there were some published data for wc-735 i would try to get some of that.

Fastest load data i have for 55 grain spitzer is with 4895

When it says 5% faster than H-335, it's not in resulting velocity, it's in burn rate.
WC-735 has a 5% faster burn rate than H-335, that means you can use H-335 data MINUS 5% and you should be safe.

I'm getting best accuracy with H-335 and 52 grain Speer HP's and Benchmark with 55 grain V-Maxes
Velocity is right up there as well.
H-335 burns a bit dirtier, so takes longer to clean.

Where's the best place to buy these powders?

Benchmark can be hard to find. It also costs a bit more than the regular Hodgdon powders. I have purchaSed both at Wholesale Sports and locally here in Quesnel. H-335 meters well from my Lee powder measure.

24.5 Benchmark, Federal (once fired) brass, Federal standard primer, 55 grain V-Max, seated .015 off the lands. Chronographed @ 3225 fps from my Savage VLP 26" barrel

25.0 H-335, Fed brass, CCI standard primer, 52 grain Speer HP, .015 off the lands. Chronographs ~3250 from the same rifle.

I dont think anyone mentioned Reloader 15 yet.. I just started reloading for 223 and it gave me the best 5 shot group at 100 yard over Varget so far... Still working on it..

20 grains of of RL-15 with a 75 grain Hornady HPBT bullet gave me less than 0.5 inch groups at 100 yards .. OAL was 2.250 inch ... lower velocity of 2200 fps but fantastic group...

Actually it has nothing to do with burn rate. Max load that i have for 55 grain spitzers with 4895 is 27.5 grains giving a VELOCITY IS 3318 FPS, Max load i have of H-335 is 27.0 grains of powder (with magnum primers) VELOCITY IS 3264 FPS. So according to my manual 4895 gives more velocity than H-335.;)

Oh, I thought you were refering to the #2 post, where the guy said that WC735 is 5% faster than H-335....

1st choice would be Benchmark. (.667" 5 shot group @ 200y)
2nd choice would be Varget. (1.12" group @ 200y)

The best part, my loads seem to be fairly temp sensitive, temp drops 25 degrees (to -20) and my groups open up to 1.32" with the benchmark! :D Me be happy about that!

Now to see what they do at +30.....

Cheers!
