223 Progressive reloading and case lube

I dump cases on a round aluminum pan that the wife didn’t want anymore. Blue disposable shop towels on the bottom that I have reused. Spritz with lanolin/alcohol mix. Let them sit 10 minutes and good to go.

I usually do small batch loads for competition and use imperial sizing wax.... which is great, consistent stuff but takes forever to apply and especially remove.

Pretty soon I want to reload 1,000 223 plinking loads and have been considering the DIY Lanolin/alcohol method..

Curious, how easy is it to remove the Lanolin after sizing ?

So in theory you could wipe clean with Alcohol, possibly even after full assembling the ammo if you can keep it away from primers. The higher the alcohol content the better. But I have no clue what would happen if alcohol got to your primers, you may may want to look into that if you plan on doing it. expect it to gum up whatever you wipe the cases with.

I always wet tumble with dish soap, hot water and lemishine, and may or may not use SS pins after. Don't find the pins make much of a difference most times though sometimes a tiny bit of lanolin is left behind but I mean the tiniest amount that you can barely feel, it just feels different that bare clean brass and is sufficient for firing.
If you try and wipe it with a towel when it's dry it will be difficult, gum up your towel, and probably will leave some on the cases, that has been my observation.

I have heard it is not a good idea to shoot while still on cases as it can or will transfer to the chamber especially with the heat but have never noticed build up with low volume firing and cleaning.

Forgot to add. if you spray on your case reloading tray I would either flip the tray and use the back side or buy one specifically for lubing, it isn't the easiest to clean off the tray will most likely lead to any powder you drop sticking to it where it remains even after washing. It is my preferred case lube all the same though.

Lanolin and alcohol works but it's hard to clean. I started with Lee case lube and gone full circle back to it. Water soluble, easy to clean, excellent lube, and doesn't mess with primers or powder. Tumble lube 50 cases in 2 minutes.

I rinse / soak my lube cases with acetone or Lacquer Thinner if you tolerate the smell for 1/2 to 1 hr and dry wipe ,

My bulk progressive method is to shake the cases in an old Lyman tumbling media container with rcbs spray lube then run them through the press with 2 sizing dies, one regular and one one small base while hitting them with a lee quick trim then I wet tumble. Then I load on the progressive after, with prepped cases I can load 4-500 an hour.
