Anyone shooting 55gr Campro with the D8208 powder in their .223? I've got a few sacks of bullets and a few jugs of powder that need to meet, wondering about loads and results.

i tried the campro 224 55 fmj projectiles but had less than stellar performance. though I never tried with that powder combination I found them lagging behind Hornady's offering. I may try to expand my load development with them again this summer because for the price and being Canadian I would prefer to support them.

Me too; they shot better than Federal American Eagle (not hard to do), but not by much. Compared to Speer or Hornady, they are pretty poor accuracy wise. I gave the left over ones to a person who is more interested in mag-dumps than accuracy. Glad they are gone.

I've used D8208 with 55gr Hornady SP bullets successfully. In my rifle, a Ruger American Ranch, I found 23.5gr loaded in LC brass and Federal 205M primers gives me 5-shot groups around 0.5 MOA. I've not tried the Campro FMJBT yet but experience in my AR15 rifles tells me not to expect near the performance of the Hornady 55gr bullets. I hope this helps.

Not Campro FMJ, but here's some 55gr results w/ D8208BR from a couple rifles :

Ruger 5.56 Scout Rifle 16.1" 1:8t
55gr Hornady SP w/c
Nosler brass
21.90grs D8208BR
CCI 400 standard primer = 2765 fps
CCI 450 magnum primer = 2712 fps

Tikka T3x CTR 20" 1:8t
55gr Speer SP
Nosler brass
21.90grs D8208BR
CCI 400 standard primer = 2960 fps
CCI 450 magnum primer = 2958 fps

The magnum primer improved standard deviation by 45%

do you know what velocity was running around?

I recently started load development with my newly acquired D8208 and found a good node while doing a 20 shot Satterlee test. the node is down low though running 2881 avg for velocity across a 0.6 charge range in heavy bras (reduced case capacity). I fired one group in this charge range a pulled a sub MOA group which if consistent will be good enough for my purpose but I'm wondering if I should further develop the load through the entire charge range. Problem is, I won't be able to do that until late June so looking for advice ahead of time before I start up again.

thanks

The Ruger AR has a 16" barrel. I have not chrono'd this load yet but estimate the MV to be around 2800fps. If and when my local range reopens again, I will chrono this load and report back here.
