.223 rem from 18" barrel?

I have T/C encore with two 15" barrels one barrel is 223 and the other is 308 it's not that much louder then a 20" barrel it's over exaggerated on CGN

I have had many short barrel rifles, including .223's... don't stress about increased noise or muzzle blast, you won't even notice it. One of my most accurate .223's ever had an 18" heavy barrel.

Range is fine, muzzle blast should be no greater/lesser issue than with a 20". In either case, hearing protection is highly advisable. I know it's "only" a .223, but it's plenty loud enough to do damage.

I have a 16 1/2'' Rem 7615 ... I shoot enough .223/5.56 in 20 (Colt), 24 (Tikka) and 26 inch (T/C) barrels to know that it is definitely louder. Wear hearing protection

My 16" 556 scout is noticeably louder than my 18" keltec and 17" 308 scout. However it is not like shooting a pistol indoor type loud.
