It sure does make things easier to do. I use youtube a lot to find out how to do things etc.
Youtube videos can either be a big help, or they can send you down a rabbit hole in the wrong direction.
I have seen no bloody end of truly terrible advice and technique WRT machining and metal lathe work on youtube.
Lots of folks seem to think that because they have a video camera and put in the time to make a video, that somehow they should be treated with some level or reverence or respect, whether they have any skill in the field of the video's subject, or otherwise.
There have been a couple youtube 'personalities' that have been rather prolific to the extent that about all I considered them to really have any expertise in, was video editing and uploading. Since I discovered and Add-On to my Browser which blocks their Channels, I no longer contribute to their income stream.
But, my comment really was about that before the Internet became 'a thing', you had to figure out, first of all, where to find this information, and then, you had to dig (often enough, quite deep) into your wallet and pay a bunch of money for the documents that contained the info, so that you could sift through it for the data needed.
Now, much of that info is freely available, and pretty easy to find, without having to spend any great amount of time or money.
Many of the professional organizations which used to be quite well hidden in their own little worlds, have become accessible.
