Hi I would like some advise on powder for the 223 I have bin using imr4198 with 40gr noslers and 52hpbt match.

The 223 is pretty forgiving. You can come up with a load using almost any powder/bullet combination. It depends on your barrel twist, bullet weight and most of all; your expectations.

I have used IMR4198, IMR4320, Varget, Blue Dot.

1in12 and 40gr bullets and I'm loading up some 52gr just to get rid of them.

Based on the rifle twist, lighter bullets should perform better in the 1 in 12.

Have u ever had whare u cant get all the cases to come out of the gun the same .Like 10 thow dif so I dont no ware the chamber is.

Seems Varget's the winner as far as extruded powder goes in my SPS with 40 a gr. V-max. 27.5 gr. Compressed load. 2.290 OAL. Haven't tried any extruded powders yet.

I couldnt get enough Varget in a 223 case to push a 40 grainer to decent speed. 28 grains and I topped out @ 3385 fps in a 22" 1:12 barrel
