Hi there.

I am reloading for the weekend and I just want your opignion on the overall cartridge length for the 223?

I read online and someone in here on another question said the V-MAX 50 grain should be 2.200 inches.

What about other bullets?

I noticed all my commercial ammo is 2.200 inches (using Caliper)

I am trying to find the optimum bullet seating position for the 700 sps varmint.

thanks

Luc

the lee dies sets i have give instructions for this.
I am sure most others do as well.
You bassically have to make sure bullet doesnt get seated too short
as to compress your powder charge. maximum overall length
must make sure bullet doesnt touch rifling when chambered,
again, another high preasure problem.
you have to make sure the overall length you decide on will function smoothly in whatever action you have.
Generally factory ammo is made so it will function in as many guns as possible.
other than that, you can play with bullet depth, as this will effect accuracy,
and generally the closer to the rifling without touching is best.
I have a book that says 15 to 30 thousands away.
hope this helps
