What makes you "not a big fan"?Personally I am not a big fan of the Ruger. Gen 2 looks cool for sure and accepts AR mags, that's about it.

Love my CTR, but if I was to recommend one cope gun to rule all the mag fed Autoloader substitutes it would be the Henry Supreme (LASR).
Check out the RDSC conversions and the SPD Predator.![]()
My biggest annoyance as well.Removes the most annoying part of most lever rifles which is having to single load into a tube.

My biggest annoyance as well.
I suspect if sales are really good, we're going to see an expansion of calibers and mag compatibility with SR25 / AR10 type mags.
I'm not really looking to scratch the AR itch. I looked at Akdas, the Adler etc..try to make it look the part.... it's just not the same. Not willing to drop $2500 on a Makasi now. Maybe in a couple years. So...Looking at different ways to entertain myself with the 223.The renegades are cool but they are not as accurate as a tikka or a Ruger american
It depends on what you want really
If you want to scratch that AR itch then the renegade or a taipan x pump is the way to go. But if you want to blast varmints way out there then a Ruger American
Is what I would get
The 600 bucks you save over the tikka will get you a scope for it

I'm starting to think it will be a Ruger..
Appreciate all the feedback
Imagine walking through the bush with stacked crossmags and hooking a birch tree....lolIf you want 20 rounds, you got it!

NorthPro Sports has a "Standard" for 975Well I've kinda firmed up on the Ruger. Now to wait for a sale...
Though there doesn't seem to be loads sitting in store racks atm.
Considering the OP is asking how to shoot a lot of cheap 556 and 223, this is one of the correct answers. Or just a Savage Axis gen 2 or pro. The pro is actually pretty good considering it is a Savage.
But, as pointed out above, the Ruger gen 2 accepts AR magazines which could be a consideration. I had the AR magwell in my gen 1 and it never properly worked.
My favorite by far is a Howa1500 mini action.Looking at picking up a mag fed bolt action 223. I have a lot of 223 and 556 that needs shooting. Tikka CTR, Ruger American, CZ600 Ergo, MRA Renegade are on my list. Other suggestions welcome.
Anything that people really don't like about any of those guns? I like that MRA and Ruger use stanag mags, I've never owned a Tikka but they seem to have a good rep.
My 223 use is just range and gravel pit shooting.....and at this time of year, blowing up pumpkins.
