Hello all looking for some advise,

I have a Tikka T3 Varmint Stainless with a heavy barrel and a 1/8twist
I am wondering a good scope and ammunition to shoot 500 yards?

any advice is greatly appriaciated!

For a scope, go as much as you can possibly afford. For 500 yard shooting, I'd recommend at least 24X. Best would be a Nightforce 8-32X56. Stick with Leupold, Sightron, Nightforce , even the Bushnell Elite. I hear good things about Falcon and Merlin scopes too but have never used either one.

Stay away from crap made in China.

Remember, guns may come and go, but a scope lasts a lifetime. The other thing that many learn the hard way is it takes a wealthy man to buy a cheap scope.

whats the difference

The varmit HB or the super varmit are the same barrel and action what difference should it make ? Put a scope on it and shoot her . I would suggest at least a bushnell 3200 or a nikon Buckmaster.. Let us know how it groups send some pictures and keep us in the loop.........

Definitely look at the Falcon scopes, check out cyberk's web site.

I think the highest magnification you get with them is 18 but the price is tough to beat. I've got two now, no complaints.

If you don't reload, and want to shoot beyond 500, look for Federal GMM with 69g SMK's, there may be others like Black Hills but not easy to find. Under 500 yards, Federal also makes Premium ammo with 52g HPBT, a lot of other ammo will work, probably even the 55g FMJ American Eagle.
