So I am looking to reload 223 55gr spitzer boat tails . I am using winchester 231. Does anyone have good load info. I use the hogdons online site for info and cant find the sierra 55 gr spitzers. Thanks for any help.

It sounds as though you better do a little reading about reloading. You have mentioned shotgun/handgun powders that would prove to be disastrous in .223. Try W748, BLC-2, Varget or WC735 for starters and get a few manuals.

Titegroup is more for pistols. For 223 you want to look at the medium-fast range of powders, like IMR 3031, Varget, h335, BLC2, IMR 4064, etc. It's very similar to what you'd use for 308, which is why 223 is such an awesome caliber to have when you hunt with 308. Usually you can get the same gun in 223 as you can in 308, and train with it. They're both very accurate and short action.

lots of guys use pistol powder for 223 , but with that said it wont take much for an over charge and disaster is close behind . load with known powders from a manual to be safe and shoot more tomorrow
