Hello thinking of buying a Tikka 223. The reason Tikka is I have 2 now one 22-250 the other 30-06 and I have 3 sets of Bases and rings. I reload for both. I really have not reloaded 223, I do know the faster the twist the larger bullet i.e 70 grain etc. will stabilize. My question is will the 8" twist barrel stabilize 40, 45, 50, 52, 53, 55 projectiles. I am trying make a decision as to what twist to by. I must add I really do not want to shoot competitively Just once in awhile fool around at the range and Coyote hunting a bit. I would think Most of my shots will be 75-250 yards. At this point I really see no reason to go heavy barrel. I would much appreciate you comments. :D
I did post this on the tactical site as well. But half of my questions are for reloading.
Thanks for the patience.

IMO, go with the tighter twist rate- you'll have a broader range of ammunition to choose from. No problem stabilising lighter bullets with this twist and you'll have the option of going heavier should you wish.
I own an older Tikka M55 in .223 which is 1:9, she loves 50gr flat base bullets over 26gr of H4895, seated just shy of the lands and lightly crimped.

only problem with shooting a light for caliber varmint bullet in a 1:8 twist 223 is some of the thin jacket fragile types may come apart mid flight from too many RPM?

food for thought
