223 vmax vs barnes varmint grenades

I have both loaded all i have to do is shoot a groundhog and see. Last year I shot several with the v-max and they didn't stand a chance. I've heard that the varmint grenades are very explosive, maybe too explosive, they might disinigrate on a wet blade of grass on its way to the groundhog. I'll check back in a couple weeks after I can get out and plug a few groundhogs, then ii;ll give you the field report. But if i had to chose right now i would go with the v-max they are a little more durable for the thicker skinned groundhogs.
I think I would stick to Vmax, used some VG's on gophers and was getting pass through shots. At first I thought it was because there was not enough body mass but after shooting a few coyotes with them this fall and getting the same results I stopped using them. They were the 32 gr. and I was shooting them out of a 22-250, I could not get them to shoot in my 222 at all.

Ive been tinkering with some handloads with both the VGs and the vmax and the vmax certainly outshoot the grenades as far as accuracy (in my rifle anyways). Still playin with the grenades to see if i can get some half decent groups. As for the explosiveness of the vmax vs varmint grenades ill stick with the vmax! Both will make a mess.
"...might disinigrate(sic) on a..." So will any varmint bullet. Moreso on a twig or thick weed though. The calibre doesn't matter either.
It's very sad when you hear the ground hog laughing at you as he goes down his hole in the blink of an eye because a thistle got in the way.
