Ok.

Anyone have any info to share on a 223. I decided on buying one for a few reasons. But I want to hear what the general population has to say on 223 Vrs 22-250.

My biggest question is which maker should I go with?

The Tikka Tactical looks like a great deal.

The big thing I like about the .223 as a varmint round is that you don't get exit holes on coyotes that you are going to send to the auction.

It is a very accurate round, and cheap to shoot, will hold well way out there, and is very easy to reload for.
I use the same powder for it as my .308's ( Varget) .

Spydr, I posted a poll a long time ago on this very caliber, The response was well in favor of the .223, for many reasons, mainly cost and ease of reloading and reloading supplies. I am going to get a .223 barrel for my Encore and started gathering brass, way easier to find(in the range bucket) than 22-250. Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll be happy with, but the .223 seems to be the most popular. I was even thinking about getting a barrel in .204, but being a new round, I think supplies would be a little harder to get, like extra factory rounds at the local Co Op, when you forget your ammo box at home.

My 2 cents

Do a serach on 223 and you will find a ton of information.

If you are planning to shoot beyond 200 yards it is advisable to get a fast twisting barrel (<1:10"). A fast twisting barrel can stablize heavy bullets better.

Good luck!
