No not another comparison thread trying to once and for all time definitively state precisely which is the best. Most adults (over 50):D already know. This is just an observation. After spending the last cpl of weeks shooting, trimming, sizing, priming etc for my .223, I decided to load up a few rounds for the Garand. The frickn things felt like artillery shells. Never before did a empty 06 case feel like it was something that should be dropped out of a bomb bay door. So easy to handle, dump the powder in with a shovel like thing, pick up a huge 150 gr fmjbt and just let it plunk down on top of all that powder. So easy:):):) Like I said just an observation. As you were.

I remember a shoot on the range in Camp Wainwright in about 87 when we had just adopted the C7. Three of my friends were shooting their new rifles and I brought out the M1 for the "halibut". You could hear pic, pic, pic, BOOM! And a great stovepipe would be ejected across the range in front of everyone. There was a strong wind blowing from right to left and their shots(at 200) were falling half way across the four foot frame. Mine were an inch to the left.

Most 30/06s that I've shot have been surprisingly accurate, and shoot right with the .308, both are very accurate and magnum shooters would have their eyes opened.
