.223 vs 9mm Carbine?

I was at the farm with my Keltec su16 223cal & I had my NR storm 9mm
they were both fun to shoot,..but boy, when you get in those wide open spaces...the storm fell drastically short.
there is a HUGE difference from being at the Range, to being able to see 1,000 yards in all directions.

I like the pistol calibre carbines, but like it’s been said they get boring after a bit. I’m setting up my own range in my pasture, and I’ve got some Ar400 for the pcc’s. The 5.56 is way more useful. I’ve had to hit a raccoon way too many times to kill it with a 9mm. Shot placement, I know but they don’t always give you perfect broadsides. 5.56 does it right, first hit. I have a Tavor and a Famae 540 that see more use for those reasons.

The PCC role in hunting really only shines in confined areas.... and when one needs to be very conscious on what lies behind the target. Even on the bald ass prairies of Alberta ive found myself holding off on shots with the .223 cus theres cows, or a neighboring ranch a couple kilometers away. With a PPC i still have to be aware of the same concerns... but they pose far less of a risk due to 9mms pathetic ballistics. A feature ive discovered comes in handy alot more than one would normally expect. Plus i also like how a shot from my PCC doesnt blow out my ears like a .223 does.

PCC carbines are lots of fun. The non restricted ones would be good for home defense, too.

I think of a 9mm PCC as a 22 LR on steroids. Fun for plinking, training beginners with and for playing around, not too expensive to shoot. And also much less noise than a .223

I have a couple fun .223 rifles and recently noticed the CZ Scorpion 9mm Carbine non restricted...

Any of you guys running both rounds in rifles?
I have 9mm handguns so the ammo is around
Are there any but pluses / minuses to think about?

The biggest minus is that they are so fun to shoot, you'll go through ammo quickly. This is especially the case when shooting at steel.

I wouldn't trade my AR9 for anything. That said, it's a range-only toy given its restricted status. If you need NR, there are other options like the CZ you mentioned or the Ruger PC Carbine or JR or ... In any form, they're super fun.
