.223 Winchester Brass

After checking to make sure all my once fired .223 brass was not too long I noticed all my winchester brass was above the 1.760" length outlined in my Speer manual. There was only 2 federals out of 500 that were longer. Did they expand that much or is it that winchester simply has a longer casing for their factory ammo?
 
When they were made new they could have been at max, which is ok. Then one firing/sizing could put them over. It's normal.
 
Must have been at the long end of their spec from the factory. It happens.

Time to get the trimmer out... This is probably not the answer you were looking for :)

My unscientific observation is when this happens, the time to the next trimming is often sooner than expected. Don't worry - after that, the brass 'growth on firing' seems to normalize.

Good question to ask!

I ordered a Savage model 12FV with a bull barrel. After reading his thread I went and checked the brass I collected from the range. Yup all the winchester brass is too long. About half of the Federal Classic is too long as well. guess I gotta go buy a part for my Forrester trimmer soon!!
