I have Savage weather warrior in 22-250 and 300 win mag with accu stock and accu trigger, love mine, I think you made a good choice and will be very pleased.

Congrats on the new gun.

For what it's worth I have black scopes on mine which looks great but I'm sure the silver-tone will also look very sharp

The triple deuce is a great round, i`ve had one for years, had and sold at least 4 22-250`s and will get another some time. Don`t own a 223 but i`m looking at getting one, i do like my 204 though. Can a man have to many rifles? I think not, SWMBO says i have to many but i just look at the closet filled with clothes and rest my case. May even have to research the new wildcat .223 post whore.
 
22-250 is a faster, higher energy, longer round. However, it is also much more expensive and far less common. My old parker Hale 1200v heavy barrel in 22-250 is the most accurate gun I own out to 500+ yards.

I would say that if you don't plan to shoot it too much, or if you hand load, go 22-250. If you want to shoot a lot of factory cartridges without breaking the bank, .223 all the way.
 
4 shots to sight in bore sighted scope, then 5 for 5 on 4" clays at 100 yards and 4 out of 5 four inch clays at 200 yards with ten shots with a 50 grain AR15 load I use.

I have not even started to tune the rifle in and it is all good!

All 4" clay "kills" were confirmed with a 24X scope and then decimated with 204 ruger rounds.

Yep, back at it today.

50 Grain VMax with various loads of IMR4895. I think the 25.8 grains wins.
I shot 10 rounds 25.5, 10 rounds 25.8, 10 rounds 26.0, 9 rounds 26.3 and 7 rounds 26.5, (I had screwed up the neck on 4 when I reloaded them)

The small squares are 0.5".

222 Remington
221 Fireball
22 Hornet
17 Hornaday Hornet

And that is just what I can pull off the top of my head without going into wildcats.
 
Hornets are very quiet, and a great short range varmint calibre. I miss the BRNO zkw465 that I sold dearly!! Extremely accurate and a pleasure to shoot! Sometimes you just wish you'd never moved a rifle!
 
Seems the rep as a barrel burner and cost of ammo has turned some folks off of this hyper cartridge. I collect the brass for a large range and I only rarely ever see any 22-250 at all. The 223, well thats the no 1 case I find in the bins and almost as common as 9mm pistol. Cheap to buy, reload etc and available all over.
I have been shooting it for some time and it is also a light recoil cal. Also has the advantage of being able to watch your shot thru the scope. The 22-250 is great cartridge. Just the thing you want to be using if you are making really long varmint shots. Still Im keeping my 223.
 
A gent over on 24campfire was championing the use of reduced loads using bluedot for powder. It does work alright but as Gitrdun mentioned TrailBoss would probably be a better choice. I have tried bluedot and it does work well for plinking loads but will try TB. Just another vote for the 223 and its versatility.
